reactive continuum

This page is dedicated to the study of architecture within our daily lives as it is constantly disrupted by user, function, space, environments, jurisdictions, instability, technologies, and many other factors. The goal of this study is to understand the impacts and opportunities each disruptions causes in order to develop evidence that informs design decisions and solutions for specific situation. This goal is defined as Phronesis.

  What is Reactive Continuum?

Architectural intervention functioning as a device for resources, safety, and information while reacting to a constant flow shift linked through shared experience

  How does Architecture react?

Architecture becomes responsive due to our everyday interactions with our environments, technologies, constraints, freedoms, emotions, and evolving human behavior.

How is Architecture a Reactive Continuum?

Architecture consists of temporal characteristics with the ability to fluctuate in space as it adapts and reacts to the changing flow of informative input.  It functions as a network at various scales: a Hub, Outpost, and Tote. Each one a node within the network, readily available to create, change, and transform the network.

  The Network

The Hub

Mostly stationary, yet at a constant state of change.

The Outpost

Reactive staging due to behavioral input between the Hub & the Tote.

The Tote

At a constant state of movement

  Phronesis

Greek team which means ‘practical wisdom’ that has been derived from learning and evidence of practical things.  Phronesis leads to breakthrough thinking and creativity and enables the individual to discern and make good judgements about what is the right thing to do in a situation.
